Ianworks is committed to the appropriate reuse of old hardware
and recovered beams and planks to enhance the look and feel of any cabinet or piece of furniture.
Many of our recent custom pieces have been crafted of lumber milled from 100-year-old
logs reclaimed from the floor of the Ottawa River and surrounding lakes. When ever possible, Ianworks also strives
to use locally harvested materials as the trees tend to be of older growth and not "farmed" hybrids. |

Often small amounts of
vintage casing, crown moulding, plate rail or baseboard must be reproduced either to repair
an heirloom or to accommodate changes in a home due to renovation. Approaching an architectural
moulding manufacturer can be overwhelmingly expensive due to custom tooling of moulding knives
and minimum runs of milled material, often much more than required. Ianworks can produce in-house small
amounts of custom mouldings utilizing a combination of modern machine techniques and turn of the
century hand tools. Millwork can be reproduced in virtually any wood, carefully stained to match
the existing woodwork and finished with either traditional varnishes and shellacs or new age urethanes.
